A nostalgic festive treat combining chewy nougat and vibrant gumdrops.
Ingredients

- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 egg whites
- 2 cups chopped gumdrops
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture boils.
- In a separate bowl, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gradually pour the hot syrup into the egg whites while beating continuously until the mixture is thick and glossy.
- Fold in the chopped gumdrops and nuts (if using), along with the vanilla extract, until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into a greased pan lined with parchment paper.
- Allow it to set at room temperature for several hours or until firm.
- Once set, dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Dust with powdered sugar if sticky.
