Description

A nostalgic festive treat combining chewy nougat and vibrant gumdrops.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 cups chopped gumdrops
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture boils.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  3. Gradually pour the hot syrup into the egg whites while beating continuously until the mixture is thick and glossy.
  4. Fold in the chopped gumdrops and nuts (if using), along with the vanilla extract, until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased pan lined with parchment paper.
  6. Allow it to set at room temperature for several hours or until firm.
  7. Once set, dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Dust with powdered sugar if sticky.
