Ingredients
Scale
- 4 Green tomatoes, sliced
- 1 cup Cornmeal
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 4 slices Bacon
- 1 Beef patty
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced bread
- Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat, ensuring there is enough to fry the tomatoes properly.
- Dip sliced green tomatoes in buttermilk to coat well, then dredge in seasoned cornmeal.
- Fry coated tomato slices in the heated skillet until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In another skillet, cook bacon until crispy, adjusting cooking time to preference.
- Cook the beef patty in a separate pan to desired doneness, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Lightly toast slices of bread.
- Assemble the sandwich with a layer of lettuce, fried green tomatoes, bacon, and the beef patty between the toasted bread.
- Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately while warm and crispy.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, skip the bacon and beef patty and use a vegetable burger. Store leftovers separately to maintain texture.
