Description

A delicious twist on the classic BLT sandwich featuring crispy fried green tomatoes, savory bacon, and fresh lettuce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Green tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup Cornmeal
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 4 slices Bacon
  • 1 Beef patty
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced bread
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying, as needed

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat, ensuring there is enough to fry the tomatoes properly.
  2. Dip sliced green tomatoes in buttermilk to coat well, then dredge in seasoned cornmeal.
  3. Fry coated tomato slices in the heated skillet until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In another skillet, cook bacon until crispy, adjusting cooking time to preference.
  5. Cook the beef patty in a separate pan to desired doneness, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  6. Lightly toast slices of bread.
  7. Assemble the sandwich with a layer of lettuce, fried green tomatoes, bacon, and the beef patty between the toasted bread.
  8. Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately while warm and crispy.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, skip the bacon and beef patty and use a vegetable burger. Store leftovers separately to maintain texture.
