Description

Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons milk
  • 2 ½ cups decorative icing (optional)
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set this mixture aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients.
  6. If the dough is too dry, add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until you get a workable dough.
  7. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them on ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Edges should be light brown.
  9. Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks.
  10. Once cooled, you can decorate with icing or sprinkles if desired.
