Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces white chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • Red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
  • 1 tablespoon Dixie Crystals Extra Fine Granulated Sugar (for whipped cream)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (for whipped cream)
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup (for sugar blood)
  • 1/2 cup water (for sugar blood)
  • 1 cup Dixie Crystals Extra Fine Granulated Sugar (for sugar blood)
  • Red gel food coloring (for sugar blood)

Instructions

  1. For the whipped cream, add 1 cup heavy cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon sugar to a mixer and whip until stiff peaks form.
  2. Combine whole milk, heavy cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, chopped white chocolate, and mini chocolate chips in a saucepan.
  3. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until the chocolate melts and the mixture simmers.
  4. Add a few drops of red food coloring and mix to achieve a vampire hue.
  5. Pour hot chocolate into prepared mugs and top with whipped cream.
  6. For the sugar blood, combine water and light corn syrup in a saucepan.
  7. Add sugar gradually, stirring gently until well mixed.
  8. Heat without stirring until it reaches 300F on a candy thermometer.
  9. Add red food coloring, stir briefly, and let cool.
  10. Dip glass rims into the sugar mixture and allow to drip as it hardens.

Notes

Ensure to use high-quality white chocolate for best results. Adjust red food coloring to desired shade and avoid boiling the hot chocolate.
