- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 3 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 8 ounces lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened.
- Add the ground beef or Italian sausage and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat from the pot.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, chicken or vegetable broth, dried basil, and oregano. Bring this mixture to a simmer.
- Add the broken lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- Stir in the ricotta cheese and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese until melted and well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, topping each bowl with remaining mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and a sprinkle of fresh herbs.
Notes
