Description

Crispy and flavorful BBQ chicken wings, perfect for summer nights.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) Chicken wings
  • 2 level tbsp Aluminium-free baking powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Pepper
  • 300 ml (1 ÂĽ cups) Tomato ketchup
  • 4 tbsp White wine vinegar
  • 5 tbsp Dark brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Black treacle or molasses
  • 3 tbsp Honey
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp or 1 tsp Mustard powder or English mustard
  • 1 ½ tsp Smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 120°C (250°F) with the fan on. Prepare a large baking tray with a rack.
  2. Cut each chicken wing at the joint to separate it into a mini wing and a drumette. Pat the wings dry and toss with baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared rack. Bake for 30 minutes on the lower shelf.
  4. Increase the oven temperature to 220°C (425°F) and bake for an additional 45-50 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. Prepare the barbecue sauce by combining all sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Heat until boiling, then simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Once the wings are out of the oven, toss them gently in the BBQ sauce.
  7. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

For best results, ensure you pat the wings dry to achieve crispiness. Feel free to customize the sauce flavors to your liking.
