Description
Delightful bite-sized treats inspired by the classic Italian dessert, featuring creamy mascarpone, rich chocolate, and a hint of coffee.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon espresso or strong coffee (cooled)
- 1/2 teaspoon cocoa powder (plus extra for dusting)
- 1/2 cup ladyfinger crumbs (or graham crackers)
- 8 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate (for coating)
- 2 oz white chocolate (optional drizzle)
- Mini chocolate chips (optional garnish)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, espresso, and cocoa powder. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Stir in the ladyfinger crumbs (or graham crackers) until the mixture thickens. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Once chilled, scoop and roll the mixture into 1-inch balls using your hands. Arrange the balls on a parchment-lined tray.
- To firm up the truffles, place the tray in the freezer for 15–20 minutes.
- While the truffles are chilling, melt the semi-sweet or dark chocolate.
- Once melted, dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate. Gently tap to remove excess chocolate and then place the truffles back on the tray.
- If desired, drizzle melted white chocolate on top of each truffle and sprinkle with mini chocolate chips for decoration.
- Before the coating sets, dust the truffles with cocoa powder for an extra touch.
- Chill the truffles in the refrigerator until the coating is firm.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for easier mixing. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
