Description

Delight in the warm, comforting flavors of fall with these soft and fluffy pumpkin cinnamon rolls, topped with a creamy glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • Powdered sugar for glaze

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Combine the ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, pumpkin puree, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, melted butter, and the activated yeast mixture.
  3. Knead the dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface until it is smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and allow it to rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, which should take about 1 to 2 hours.
  5. Roll out the dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  6. Add filling: Spread a mixture of butter, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg over the rolled-out dough.
  7. Roll and slice: Starting from one end, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into even rolls, about 1-1.5 inches thick.
  8. Second rise: Place the sliced rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise again for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  9. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Make the glaze: For the glaze, mix the softened cream cheese, maple syrup, and powdered sugar until smooth.
  11. Glaze the rolls: Once the rolls are out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over them while they are still warm.

Notes

Store cooled rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Refrigerate for about a week or freeze for up to 2 months.
