Description

A juicy Thanksgiving turkey generously coated with herb-infused butter for a flavorful and moist meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole turkey (1214 pounds)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Mix softened butter, rosemary, thyme, sage, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Pat the turkey dry and gently lift the skin from the turkey breast to spread some herb butter underneath.
  4. Rub the remaining butter all over the turkey.
  5. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and surround it with onion, carrots, and celery.
  6. Pour chicken broth into the pan.
  7. Roast the turkey for about 13-15 minutes per pound, basting occasionally with the pan juices.
  8. Check the turkey is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). Let it rest before carving.

Notes

Don’t skip the resting time after cooking; it helps redistribute the juices.
