- Place the saucepan over medium heat and allow the mixture to simmer. Stir occasionally until the rhubarb becomes tender. This usually takes about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Once the rhubarb is tender, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the lemon juice and vanilla extract. Let this mixture cool slightly while you prepare the gelatin.
