Description

A fun twist on traditional pizza, Spiral Stuffed Pizza is filled with gooey cheese and flavorful fillings, perfect for gatherings or family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water (110°F / 43°C)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup pepperoni slices
  • ½ cup bell peppers, chopped
  • ½ cup mushrooms, sliced
  • ½ cup spinach leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 ½ cups pizza sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture and mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Shape into a ball and allow to rise in a lightly oiled bowl for about 1 hour.
  4. Make the filling by mixing mozzarella, pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  7. Assemble by spreading pizza sauce on the dough and distributing the filling mixture evenly over the sauce.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from one long edge and pinch the seams to seal.
  9. Cut the rolled dough into 1-inch thick pieces and place in a greased baking dish cut-side up.
  10. Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic and onion powder.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Serve warm, garnished with fresh basil and extra pizza sauce on the side.

Notes

Allow the dough to rise until doubled in size for optimal texture. Don’t overstuff the fillings.
