Description

A fun and festive marble cake with dark chocolate and bright orange batter, perfect for Halloween celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Orange and black food coloring (optional)
  • Sprinkles, icing, or edible glitter for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter into two bowls. Leave one as is and add orange food coloring to the other, mixing until you achieve your desired color.
  6. Pour alternating spoonfuls of each batter into the prepared cake pan and use a knife to swirl them together for a marbled effect.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Decorate with sprinkles, icing, or edible glitter before serving.

Notes

Using lower-fat milk or less sugar can cut calories. Use room temperature eggs and butter for a smoother batter.
