Description

A comforting and flavorful dish featuring jumbo pasta shells filled with a hearty mixture of ground beef, fresh spinach, and cheeses, topped with marinara sauce and baked to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 12 ounces jumbo pasta shells (about 20–24 shells)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups loosely packed fresh spinach
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Boil 6 cups of water in a large pot, add a pinch of salt, and cook the jumbo pasta shells until al dente.
  3. In a skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until browned and onion is soft, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add spinach, basil, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper, cooking until spinach wilts, about 2 minutes.
  5. Mix in half of the marinara sauce with the beef and spinach mixture.
  6. Drain pasta shells and fill each shell with 2-3 tablespoons of the filling.
  7. Arrange filled shells in a casserole dish and pour the remaining marinara sauce over top.
  8. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses generously over the sauce.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes, then broil for 1-2 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, garnished with extra Parmesan or fresh basil. Great to store as leftovers.
