Description

A delightful combination of warm spices and fresh apples, this Spiced Apple Fritter Bread is perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for cinnamon swirl)
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon (for cinnamon swirl)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  3. Mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract in another bowl until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples.
  6. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon for the swirl in a separate small bowl.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture, then add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the cinnamon mixture.
  8. Use a knife to swirl the mixture slightly.
  9. Bake for about 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for the glaze until smooth.
  11. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread before serving.

Notes

Avoid overmixing to ensure a light texture. Fresh apples enhance flavor, and you can customize with nuts or different spices.
