Description

A delightful dish that captures the heart of home-cooked comfort food with smoky sausage and hearty potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb smoked sausage
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 56 russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Vegetable oil, as needed

Instructions

  1. Slice the smoked sausage into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the sausage. Sauté until browned.
  3. While the sausage is cooking, prepare the potatoes by cutting them into 3/4 inch cubes.
  4. Add potatoes and chopped onions to the skillet with sausage and pour in water, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Stir well.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and cover. Cook for 10 minutes, gently flipping the mixture once or twice.
  6. Remove the lid and increase heat back to medium-high. Cook for another 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender and golden.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Don’t overcrowd the pan to ensure potatoes get crispy. You can customize the dish with different meats or vegetables.
