A creamy and cheesy baked noodle dish with ground beef, perfect for a comforting family meal.

- 8 oz wide egg noodles
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- ½ cup sweet yellow onion, finely chopped
- ½ tablespoon garlic, minced
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
- 1 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper, divided
- 1¼ cups small-curd cottage cheese (4%)
- ½ cup sour cream
- â…“ cup green onions, thinly sliced
- 1½ cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
- 1½ cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Boil the wide egg noodles until al dente, drain, and rinse under cold water.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion and minced garlic until browned. Drain excess fat, add marinara sauce, and half of the salt and pepper; stir well.
- In a separate bowl, combine cottage cheese, sour cream, green onions, and remaining salt and pepper. Fold in the cooked noodles.
- Layer half of the noodle mixture in the greased baking dish, then add half of the meat sauce and sprinkle part of the shredded cheese. Repeat layers and finish with remaining cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 30 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
This dish can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the fridge before baking. Consider adding vegetables for variation.
