Description
Homemade breadsticks shaped like snakes with olive eyes and pepper tongues – perfect for Halloween.
Ingredients
1 tsp dried active yeast
â…” cup warm water
4 tbsp olive oil
2 â…” cups plain flour
1 tsp salt
2 black olives, chopped
â…“ orange bell pepper, sliced
6 drops green food coloring
3 tbsp water
1 tbsp sesame or nigella seeds (optional)
Instructions
1. Mix yeast with warm water, add olive oil.
2. Stir in flour and salt, knead until smooth.
3. Proof for 1 hour until doubled in size.
4. Divide into 50 g pieces, shape into snakes.
5. Wrap around skewers, place on baking tray.
6. Bake 15 minutes at 425°F.
7. Brush with food coloring mixture, sprinkle seeds, bake 5 minutes.
8. Insert olive eyes and pepper tongues, remove skewers carefully.
Notes
Make ahead and refrigerate overnight before baking.
Freeze unbaked dough snakes for up to 3 months.
Serve with garlic mayo, chili sauce, or marinara for dipping.
