Description

Transform ripe pears into a delightful spread with this easy slow cooker recipe, combining vanilla and pears for a rich flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups pears, peeled, cored and cubed (about 4 medium pears)
  • 2 tbsp orange juice (freshly squeezed or bottled)
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 12 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Beans from 1 vanilla bean pod, scraped out (or 1 tsp vanilla bean paste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pears by peeling and coring them. Then, cut them into 1/2-inch cubes.
  2. Combine the cubed pears into the slow cooker along with the orange juice, water, honey or maple syrup (if using), and the vanilla bean or vanilla bean paste.
  3. Cook on low for 180-300 minutes, depending on the ripeness of your pears.
  4. Mash the pears until smooth, using a potato masher or a blender.
  5. Store the pear butter in jars to refrigerate or freeze for later use.

Notes

Use ripe pears for the best flavor. Adjust sweetness to your preference by adding more honey or maple syrup.
