Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups pears, peeled, cored and cubed (about 4 medium pears)
  • 2 tbsp orange juice (freshly squeezed or bottled)
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 12 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Beans from 1 vanilla bean pod, scraped out (or 1 tsp vanilla bean paste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pears: Start by peeling and coring the pears. Then, cut them into 1/2-inch cubes.
  2. Combine the ingredients: Place the cubed pears into the slow cooker along with the orange juice, water, honey or maple syrup (if using), and the vanilla bean or vanilla bean paste.
  3. Cook: Set your slow cooker to low and let it cook for 180-300 minutes.
  4. Mash the pears: Once the cooking time is complete, remove the vanilla bean if you used one, and mash the mixture to your desired consistency.
