Description

A quick and delicious one-pot meal featuring smoky sausage, creamy sauce, and Cajun spices.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • Optional: Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of olive oil. Add the sliced smoked sausage, diced bell pepper, diced onion, and minced garlic. Sauté for 5–7 minutes until tender.
  2. Stir in the Cajun seasoning and mix well to coat the sausage and vegetables.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir and simmer gently.
  4. Add the uncooked penne pasta, cover, and cook for 12–15 minutes until the pasta is al dente, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

For a lighter dish, feel free to substitute chicken or shrimp for the sausage. Use different types of vegetables for customization.
