- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
- Optional: Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of olive oil. Add the sliced smoked sausage, diced bell pepper, diced onion, and minced garlic. Sauté for 5–7 minutes until tender.
- Stir in the Cajun seasoning and mix well to coat the sausage and vegetables.
- Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir and simmer gently.
- Add the uncooked penne pasta, cover, and cook for 12–15 minutes until the pasta is al dente, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
For a lighter dish, feel free to substitute chicken or shrimp for the sausage. Use different types of vegetables for customization.
