- 1½ pounds ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- ½ cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 beef bouillon cube, crushed
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cups hot water
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 medium yellow onion, sliced into half-moons
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, 1 tablespoon of ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, crushed bouillon cube, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
- Shape mixture into 4 to 6 oval patties, about 1 inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Remove patties and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions over medium-low heat for 3-4 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and mushrooms, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
- Pour in hot water and add beef bouillon cubes, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir well.
- Mix cornstarch with cold water until smooth, then add to the gravy, stirring until thickened.
- Return patties to the skillet and simmer in the gravy for 3-5 minutes.
- Serve hot with the gravy poured over the patties.
Notes
Serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, rice, or green beans for a complete meal.
