Description
This runza casserole layers ground beef, cabbage, cheese, and crescent rolls into a hearty, cheesy, Midwestern comfort meal.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
½ head green cabbage, shredded
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp butter
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 tubes crescent roll dough (top and bottom)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a skillet, melt butter and brown the ground beef.
3. Add onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder. Cook until onion softens.
4. Add cabbage and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
5. Stir in mushroom soup and mix well.
6. Press one crescent roll tube into the bottom of a greased 9×13 dish.
7. Spread the meat-cabbage mixture over the dough.
8. Top with cheddar and mozzarella.
9. Unroll second crescent roll and lay on top.
10. Bake 25–30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes
Use lean beef to reduce grease.
Can substitute cream of celery soup.
Freezes well before baking for up to 3 months.
