Description

Rich Butter Chicken Biryani combines the flavors of traditional butter chicken with aromatic basmati rice to create a delightful and comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 500g chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a large bowl, combine the chicken with yogurt, minced garlic, minced ginger, and spices. Mix well to ensure the chicken is covered. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Sauté onions: In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté them until they turn golden brown.
  3. Cook the chicken: After the onions are ready, add the marinated chicken to the pot. Cook until the chicken starts to brown.
  4. Add tomatoes: Once the chicken is browned, stir in the chopped tomatoes. Cook until the tomatoes soften.
  5. Incorporate the rice: Add the rinsed basmati rice to the pot. Stir gently to mix with the chicken and spices.
  6. Cook the biryani: Pour in about 4 cups of water, ensuring that the rice is fully submerged. Season with salt. Cover and reduce the heat to low. Let it cook for around 20 minutes.
  7. Finish with cream: Once the rice is ready, gently fold in the heavy cream.
  8. Garnish: Serve the biryani hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.

Notes

Soak basmati rice for at least 30 minutes before cooking to ensure fluffy grains. Allow chicken to marinate for full flavor.
