Description

Soft and chewy red velvet cookies dusted with powdered sugar, perfect for any festive occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for rolling

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and red food coloring until uniformly mixed.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Scoop portions of the chilled dough and roll into 1 to 1.5-inch balls. Roll each ball in powdered sugar.
  7. Place dough balls on prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set and centers are slightly underbaked.
  8. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze in a single layer and use parchment paper to prevent sticking.
