Description
Delicious red velvet sweet breads filled with fresh raspberries and topped with cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F or 43°C)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for filling)
- 1 cup fresh raspberries (for filling)
- 1 cup cream cheese frosting (for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. Add melted butter, sugar, eggs, cocoa powder, food coloring, vanilla, and salt. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.
- Make the Filling: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll out the dough onto a floured surface into a large rectangle (about 1/2 inch thick). Spread the brown sugar mixture evenly over the dough, then sprinkle fresh raspberries on top.
- Roll and Cut: Starting from the edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces. Arrange the slices in a greased baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Second Rise: Cover the rolls lightly with a towel and let them rise for an additional 30-45 minutes until puffy.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Frosting: Let the rolls cool for a few minutes. Spread cream cheese frosting on top while they are still warm.
- Serve: Enjoy your red velvet cinnamon rolls warm with a cup of coffee or tea!
