Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  2. Continue to cook the mixture without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
  3. Carefully remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the red food coloring, cinnamon oil, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Pour the hot candy mixture onto a greased baking sheet or marble slab.
  5. Once cool enough to handle, pull the candy to form a thick rope and cut into desired shapes.
  6. Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
