Ingredients
Brownie layer:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
Cookie layer:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper.
2. Prepare brownie batter: whisk melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in cocoa, flour, and salt until combined. Spread in pan.
3. Prepare cookie dough: cream softened butter with brown and granulated sugars until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, then stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold in chocolate chips.
4. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over brownie layer, spread gently to cover.
5. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until cookie top is golden and brownies are set.
6. Cool completely before slicing.
Notes
For a shortcut, use boxed brownie mix and store-bought cookie dough.
Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for 2 months.
