- 8 slices Italian bread
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 24 slices pepperoni
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Start by spreading the softened butter on one side of each of the 8 slices of Italian bread. Once done, set them aside with the buttered side down.
- On the unbuttered side of 4 slices, layer 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce, 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, 6 slices of pepperoni, and a light sprinkle of Italian seasoning.
- Top each with a second slice of bread, ensuring the buttered side is facing out.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the pan, working in batches if necessary. Grill for 3–4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Once off the heat, sprinkle the tops with grated Parmesan and add an extra pinch of Italian seasoning if desired. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For added flavors, consider using different cheeses or adding vegetables. Serve with a side of salad or tomato soup.
