Description

A delicious fusion of grilled cheese and pizza, featuring beef pepperoni and gooey mozzarella.


Ingredients

  • Thick slices of sourdough or Italian bread
  • Beef pepperoni
  • Fresh mozzarella or shredded mozzarella
  • Pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • Unsalted butter
  • Turkey pepperoni (optional)
  • Provolone or a blend of Italian cheeses (optional)
  • Low-sodium pizza sauce (optional)
  • Vegan butter or olive oil (for dairy-free alternative)

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients.
  2. Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread a generous amount of pizza sauce.
  4. Place a slice of mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  5. Add a layer of beef pepperoni over the cheese.
  6. Top with another slice of mozzarella cheese and place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out.
  7. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwich in the skillet.
  8. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
  9. Flip the sandwich and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes.
  10. Remove from skillet, let sit for a minute, then slice and serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

For a lighter version, use turkey pepperoni or a blend of Italian cheeses. Vegan alternatives are also available for dairy-free options.
