Description

A delightful and easy dessert that combines sweet and tangy pineapple with a buttery cake mix topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 1 (20-ounce) can pineapple chunks, undrained
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  3. Pour the crushed pineapple and pineapple chunks into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle granulated sugar evenly over the pineapples to adjust sweetness.
  5. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the pineapple mixture.
  6. Pour the melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped pecans or walnuts evenly over the top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.

Notes

Keep the juice from the pineapples to ensure a gooey texture. Adjust sweetness by varying the sugar amount.
