Description

A creamy, comforting casserole that combines the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak in an easy-to-make dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or shaved steak)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • Optional: chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef (or shaved steak) and brown, draining excess fat if necessary.
  3. Add diced onion, green and red bell peppers, and mushrooms to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  4. Season with salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Lower heat and mix in softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
  6. Transfer mixture to the greased baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese, sprinkling dried oregano over the top.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead of time. Refrigerate before baking for up to a day.
