Description

Delightful Persian Chicken dish combining aromatic spices, tender chicken, sweet apricots, and crunchy nuts for a unique culinary experience.


Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs, bone-in and skinless
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups chicken broth or water
  • 1 cup dried apricots, halved
  • 1 cup slivered almonds or walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, season the chicken thighs with turmeric, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  4. Add marinated chicken thighs to the skillet and brown on all sides, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a gentle boil.
  6. Stir in dried apricots and slivered almonds or walnuts.
  7. Lower the heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 45 minutes until chicken is tender.
  8. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
