Description

A delightful blend of chocolate and peppermint, these festive cookies are perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup peppermint-striped kisses
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing until combined.
  5. Roll the cookie dough into balls about 1 inch in diameter and place them on ungreased baking sheets, spacing them a couple of inches apart.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until set but still soft in the center.
  7. Remove from the oven and immediately press a peppermint kiss into the center of each cookie.
  8. While warm, sprinkle crushed candy canes on top.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
