- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup peppermint-striped kisses
- 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing until combined.
- Roll the cookie dough into balls about 1 inch in diameter and place them on ungreased baking sheets, spacing them a couple of inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until set but still soft in the center.
- Remove from the oven and immediately press a peppermint kiss into the center of each cookie.
- While warm, sprinkle crushed candy canes on top.
- Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing the dough.
