Ingredients

  • Pears – 4 cups (peeled and chopped)
  • Sugar – 3 cups
  • Lemon juice – 1/4 cup
  • Vanilla extract – 1 tablespoon
  • Pectin – 1 package (refer to the instructions on the packaging)

Instructions

  1. Prepare jars and lids by sterilizing them in boiling water to prevent contamination.
  2. Peel and chop the pears, then place them in a large pot.
  3. Add sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract to the pot and mix well.
  4. Mash the fruit mixture slightly and bring it to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  5. Add pectin according to package instructions and boil for an additional minute.
  6. Remove from heat and ladle the jam into sterilized jars, leaving a little headspace.
  7. Wipe the rims of the jars clean and seal with lids.
  8. Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 5-10 minutes for preservation.
  9. Allow to cool, then store in a cool, dark place.
