Description
A delicious homemade spread made with sweet pears and aromatic vanilla, perfect for breakfast or as a snack.
Ingredients
- Pears – 4 cups (peeled and chopped)
- Sugar – 3 cups
- Lemon juice – 1/4 cup
- Vanilla extract – 1 tablespoon
- Pectin – 1 package (refer to the instructions on the packaging)
Instructions
- Prepare jars and lids by sterilizing them in boiling water to prevent contamination.
- Peel and chop the pears, then place them in a large pot.
- Add sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract to the pot and mix well.
- Mash the fruit mixture slightly and bring it to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
- Add pectin according to package instructions and boil for an additional minute.
- Remove from heat and ladle the jam into sterilized jars, leaving a little headspace.
- Wipe the rims of the jars clean and seal with lids.
- Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 5-10 minutes for preservation.
- Allow to cool, then store in a cool, dark place.
Notes
Use ripe pears for the best flavor and follow pectin instructions carefully.
