- ½ teaspoon salt
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
- ½ teaspoon orange zest
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg, fresh orange zest, juice, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture and mix gently.
- Scoop the dough onto lined baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart. Press a small indent in the center of each cookie.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are set. Let them cool completely on a wire rack.
- In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange zest until smooth. Chill briefly if too soft.
- Swirl the cream topping into the indent of each cookie before serving.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. Freeze for up to three months, using parchment paper between layers.
