Description

A comforting and flavorful one-pot meal featuring smoked sausage, creamy orzo, and aromatic garlic, perfect for weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound smoked sausage (like kielbasa), sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups orzo pasta
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  5. Add the orzo pasta and stir to coat it in the drippings.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth, bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes until the orzo is al dente.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, then return the sausage to the pot and cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  8. Stir in chopped parsley and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat with a splash of chicken broth if needed.
