- 1 lb chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
- 2 cups rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons shawarma spice mix
- 4 cups chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Fresh herbs (parsley or cilantro) for garnish
Instructions
- Combine the chicken thighs with the shawarma spice mix, salt, and pepper. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat some oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until translucent.
- Add the marinated chicken to the pot and cook until browned on all sides.
- Stir in the rice and chicken broth, bringing to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer until the rice is cooked and the chicken is tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Mix yogurt and lemon juice in a separate bowl for the sauce.
- Serve the chicken and rice topped with the yogurt sauce and fresh herbs.
