Description
Oklahoma Nut Candy is a delightful and crunchy treat made with sugar, milk, butter, and pecans, perfect for sharing during special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups chopped pecans (or mixed nuts of choice)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper. Set aside.
- In a large heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, whole milk, light corn syrup, and unsalted butter. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to boil.
- Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the pan and cook, stirring often, until the mixture reaches 236°F (soft-ball stage), about 15–20 minutes.
- Remove from heat, stir in the vanilla extract, and fold in the chopped pecans until well coated.
- Pour the hot mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Allow the candy to cool completely at room temperature, about 1 hour. Once set, cut it into squares or rectangles with a sharp knife.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Candy can last 1-2 weeks at room temperature or up to a month in the refrigerator.
