Description

Juicy meatballs filled with melted mozzarella cheese, perfect for family dinners or party appetizers.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup low moisture mozzarella (cubed)
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 2 tbsp milk (if mixture is too dry)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of the mixture, flatten it in your hand, place a cube of mozzarella in the center, and fold the meat around the cheese. Ensure the cheese is fully enclosed.
  4. Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. (Optional) Simmer meatballs in marinara sauce for 5-10 minutes for extra flavor.
  6. Serve hot, with pasta, in sub sandwiches, or as appetizers with dipping sauces.

Notes

Ensure mozzarella is completely covered to prevent leaking while baking. Use a meat thermometer to check doneness, aiming for an internal temperature of 160°F.
