Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat.
- Stir gently until the sugar dissolves completely, then bring the mixture to a boil.
- Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Carefully remove from heat and stir in flavoring and food coloring if desired.
- Pour the hot candy mixture onto a greased baking sheet or silicone mat.
- Allow the candy to cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
- Dust the pieces with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
