- 4 large potatoes
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup chopped green onions
- Optional: cooked bacon bits, jalapeños, or any other toppings you like
Instructions
- Prepare the potatoes by washing and peeling them. Cut into fry shapes.
- Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the dried potatoes in batches until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain the fries on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
- Season with salt, garlic powder, and onion powder while hot.
- Add shredded cheese on top of the warm fries.
- Melt the cheese in a microwave or oven for a minute if desired.
- Top with sour cream, chopped green onions, and any additional toppings.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
