- 8 oz pasta (elbow macaroni or penne)
- 1 can chili (15 oz)
- 4 hot dogs, sliced
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a cheese blend)
- 1/2 cup diced onions (optional)
- 1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain it.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and bell peppers, sauté until they are soft.
- Stir in the sliced hot dogs and cook for a few more minutes.
- Add the cooked pasta and chili to the skillet. Mix well and season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer this hearty mixture to a greased baking dish. Top with shredded cheese.
- Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with chopped green onions if desired, and serve hot.
Notes
For a healthier version, consider using whole-grain pasta and lower-fat cheese.
