Description

Delicious and quick Korean Beef Bowls made in a pressure cooker with tender ground beef in a sweet and savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 0.25 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon crushed red-pepper flakes (or more to taste)
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 green onions (thinly sliced)
  • 0.25 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, red-pepper flakes, and ground ginger. Set this sauce aside.
  2. Sauté the meat: Turn your pressure cooker on to the sauté setting. Add the vegetable oil. Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic, and sauté it for about one minute until fragrant. Then, add the ground beef to the pot.
  3. Brown the meat: Cook the ground beef until it’s browned. Use a spoon to break it up into small pieces as it cooks.
  4. Add the sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the browned beef in the pressure cooker. Stir well to combine everything evenly.
  5. Cook under pressure: Seal the lid of the pressure cooker and cook on high pressure for about 10 minutes. After the cooking time is complete, let the pressure release naturally for about 5 minutes before switching to a quick release.
  6. Prepare to serve: Once the pressure has released, open the lid and give the beef a good stir. It should be nicely coated in the sauce.
  7. Garnish: Serve your Korean Beef Bowl hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Ensure the ground beef is just browned to avoid a tough texture. Adjust the spice level to taste.
