Indulgent bars combining chocolate, caramel, and peanut butter with a soft cookie base.
Ingredients

- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 5 oz evaporated milk
- 14 oz caramels
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Prepare a 9×13 inch pan by greasing it.
- Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.
- Cream the butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until creamy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Blend in the flour mixture gradually.
- Add the chocolate chips and stir well.
- Spread half of the dough in the greased pan.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes.
- Melt the caramels with evaporated milk in a double boiler.
- Add the peanut butter and stir until smooth.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the baked layer.
- Drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough over the caramel.
- Return the pan to the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.
- Cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to two weeks or freeze for up to three months.
