Description

A delightful vegan babka that combines the softness of the dough with the sweetness of fruit jam.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup plant-based milk (warm)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fruit jam (e.g., raspberry or strawberry)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix warm plant-based milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread fruit jam evenly over the surface, and roll it tightly.
  6. Twist the rolled dough and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Allow it to rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let it cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.

Notes

Ensure your yeast is fresh for optimal rising. Avoid adding too much flour while kneading to keep the babka soft.
