- 1 packet instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup plant-based milk (warm)
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup fruit jam (e.g., raspberry or strawberry)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Mix warm plant-based milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread fruit jam evenly over the surface, and roll it tightly.
- Twist the rolled dough and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Allow it to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
Notes
Ensure your yeast is fresh for optimal rising. Avoid adding too much flour while kneading to keep the babka soft.
