A delightful loaf of bread infused with herbs and melted cheese, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., mozzarella, cheddar)
- 1 tablespoon dried herbs (e.g., oregano, basil, thyme)
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and dried herbs. Mix them well.
- Form the Dough: Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Loaf Pan: Punch down the dough. Spread half of the dough into a greased loaf pan. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top and then cover it with the remaining dough.
- Second Rise: Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown.
- Cool and Slice: Let it cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy the delightful contrast of textures and flavors!
Notes
Ensure that the water temperature is warm, not hot, to properly activate the yeast.
