Description
A gourmet twist on classic Sloppy Joes, featuring caramelized onions, seasoned ground beef, and melted Swiss cheese on a warm bun, perfect for weeknights or gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (85% lean)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the thinly sliced onions and cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring often, until they are golden and caramelized.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to release its flavor.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until the beef is fully browned.
- Once the beef is browned, drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes.
- While the beef mixture is simmering, toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
- Scoop the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with shredded Swiss cheese and place the top bun on.
- If desired, garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
