Description

Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve (40-50) Saltine Crackers
  • 2 sticks Unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 cups Chocolate Chips (semisweet or milk chocolate)
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts (such as pecans or almonds)
  • 1 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1 tsp Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet, covering the entire surface.
  3. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Add the brown sugar to the melted butter and stir constantly until the mixture boils.
  5. Cook the mixture for 3-5 minutes, stirring continuously until it thickens and becomes a caramel-like consistency.
  6. Pour the hot caramel mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes until the caramel layer is bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot caramel layer. Let sit to soften.
  9. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the caramel layer.
  10. If desired, add chopped nuts, sprinkles, or sea salt over the melted chocolate.
  11. Allow to cool completely at room temperature until chocolate hardens.
  12. Break into pieces or cut into squares and serve.

Notes

For best results, spread the chocolate quickly while it’s still warm and allow the Christmas Crack to cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
