Description

A classic dish that combines pasta, ground beef, and gooey cheese for a hearty meal perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 12 ounces uncooked ziti
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 24 ounces spaghetti sauce
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add uncooked ziti and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  4. Stir in the spaghetti sauce with the ground beef and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, beaten eggs, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  6. In a large dish, mix the cooked ziti with the meat sauce. Add half of the mozzarella cheese and combine.
  7. Spread half of the ziti mixture at the bottom of a baking dish. Add the ricotta mixture in dollops, then pour the rest of the ziti mixture on top.
  8. Add the remaining mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Do not overcook the pasta. Allow the baked ziti to rest after baking for easier serving.
