- 12 ounces uncooked ziti
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 24 ounces spaghetti sauce
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 2.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add uncooked ziti and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in the spaghetti sauce with the ground beef and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, beaten eggs, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- In a large dish, mix the cooked ziti with the meat sauce. Add half of the mozzarella cheese and combine.
- Spread half of the ziti mixture at the bottom of a baking dish. Add the ricotta mixture in dollops, then pour the rest of the ziti mixture on top.
- Add the remaining mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Do not overcook the pasta. Allow the baked ziti to rest after baking for easier serving.
