- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, and water over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil.
- Allow it to boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla and salt.
- Pour the toffee mixture onto a greased baking sheet and spread it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top and gently press them into the toffee.
- Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave or double boiler and pour them over the toffee, spreading it evenly.
- Allow the toffee to cool completely before breaking it into pieces.
- Package the toffee for gifting or enjoy it yourself!
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. Wrap in cellophane for gifts.
